New Prices
Unfortunately, the costs of running Capernwray continue to grow year on year, and increases in electricity, gas and taxes have now pushed us to the point where we must increase our entry price. The last increase was two and a half years ago, and we have absorbed the increases since then, but can no longer afford to do so.

The Compressor/mixed gas station has proved to be a big success since we invested greatly in a huge Williams and James 977 60cfm compressor at a cost of 25k. This gives us up to 100cfm of air and with our banked air system we now have minimal air queues, even at peak times during the weekend. From humble beginnings when Capernwray opened its doors in November 1994, nealry 16 years ago, the cost of an air fill remains the same at £3!
On March 29th 2010, we finally sank our biggest underwater attraction, a Hawker Siddley fifty seater passenger aircraft. G-BVOV has a 100ft wingspan and sits on her wheels. It took eight months to complete at a cost of £25k and we are proud to say that all the effort was worth it, as it is now the largest fully intact underwater aeroplane in the UK!
Plans for the future include an underwater camera that can be relayed to the new televisions in the Porthole restaurant, the sinking of wreck "Murphy"presently outside the dive shop (incidently Murphy dog will be 15yrs old in September-who says that burgers and sausages are bad for you!) We are also in the final stages of negotiating for a Blackpool Tram to add to the underwater theme park.
We regret this increase but our pledge to you is to keep Capernwray the friendliest and best inland Dive Site.
Video and pictures of the aeroplane underwater
On March 29th, we sank the aeroplane!
After months of hard work, much careful planning and a few sleepless nights, G-BOV was successfully sunk on Monday. With the exception of the weather, all went according to plan on the day and once the crane had started to lift, it took less than an hour to finish the job! The site was open to spectators, and quite a crowd watched her "ditching", together with TV crews and newspaper reporters here to witness the event.
She now lies in 18m of water, near to the Gypsy Moth, and is a fantastic sight to see underwater! We believe that she is the biggest item added to an inland diving centre, and when you visit her underwater she seems huge!

Wednesday Nights
The Dive Center is now open for our late night dives on a Wednesday. Gates open at 10am and close at 9pm with the last dive commencing at 8pm.Another new wreck

An added suprise for you all! Yesterday we took delivery of yet another boat destined to join the list of attactions.
It is a 35ft bilge keeled ketch. We are busy stripping it and making it safe-but it should be in the water very soon.

Working on the 'plane!
We are hard at work preparing the aeroplane for her final flight, which we hope will be in late March.
We are stripping out the cables and piping, and enlarging the entries and exits, before we reattach the wings to the fuselage

Shergar Rides Again!
After a quick trip to the vet for a spot of equine nip and tuck Shergar is back in his original place as one of Capernwray's favourite attractions
New Compressor
The new Williams and James compressor is now installed and running. It's output is 60cfm, which in laymans terms is a lot! We have tried to keep up with it's filling rate, but it is very fast and even with 8 cylinders filling, we struggle to do so! The good side is that air queues are (or should be) a thing of the past. The down side is that every time we flick it's switch, our electricity bill doubles! The costs of this project are in excess of £15000, again a sign that we are re investing to give our visiting divers the facilites they want and needPlane has arrived
HS 748 G-BVOV has "landed" at Capernwray-accompanied by locals intent on finding the plane crash! It now sits at the top end of the car park, in fact it occupies a fair space! We will be working on it over the next few months, and don't yet have a firm date when we will be actually sinking it. Rest assured, that we will be advertising it's sinking date on here-so check back often!

Credit crunching new developments!
Capernwray as always has bucked the trend and is going from strength to strength through the recession. As always we are investing heavily in items to make the site more interesting, fun and user friendly for our valued visiting divers.
Big things first!
Hawker Siddeley 748 passenger aircraft

HS748 G-BVOV will make her last "flight" up the motorway to Capernwray very soon She is a 50 seater passenger plane with a 30m wingspan and a 20m fuselage. The plan is to bring her up in pieces (it may be worth avoiding the M6 on those days!) and set her down in the area between the diving bell and the Candida. She is intact, but we will have to remove the wings and the tail from her in order to get her here! Rest assued that all bits will be re-united once she is in the water!
New 60cfm compressor
We took delivery today of a Williams and James 60cfm water cooled compressor to add to our existing compressor bank. It seems to be famous last words, as each time we add to our air pumping capacity and prophesize that there will be no more air queues, you all just buy more air(!) but this should dramatically reduce waiting times for cylinder fills at peak times.

In additon, we have added to our oxygen bank, to help with the increased demand for EANx and Oxygen fills. We are now banking 6 cylinders of oxygen, so pressures should remain high
We all live in a yellow submarine
Watch out for another quirky attraction due to go in the water soon. Hand built by Mike Halls, the yellow submarine will join Shergar, Lord Lucan, the Pigs and Sandy as an ideal and somewhat weird underwater attraction.

And last but not least chairs, yes you read right chairs! We have ordered 100 new "Bistro" chairs for the cafe, and have three brand new outdoor tables for the sun areas. So when you aren't underwater exploring all the new attractions, you can sit in comfort!
